South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation awards three scholarships for 2008

HURON-Three individuals from Wolsey, Webster and Parkston will share $1,300 in scholarships awarded by the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation.

The 2008 scholarship recipients include Lacey Hofhenke of Wolsey, Alyssa Kuecker of Webster and Anne Wudel of Parkston.

Lacey Hofhenke Lacey Hofhenke has been awarded the $500 Farmers Union Foundation Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Doug and Karla Hofhenke. She is a senior at Miller High School and plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD to pursue a degree in business.

Alyssa Kuecker Alyssa Kuecker is the recipient of the $500 Farmers Union Foundation Cooperative Scholarship. The daughter of Amy Kuecker, Alyssa is a senior at Webster High School. She plans to attend South Dakota State University to pursue a degree in journalism.

Anne Wudel Anne Wudel will receive the $300 Farmers Union Foundation Leadership Scholarship. She is the daughter of Thomas and Marsha Wudel, Parkston and is a senior at Parkston High School. Anne plans to attend Dakota State University to pursue a degree in business marketing.

The Memorial Scholarship is presented on behalf of the families of the late Emil Loriks, Les Saboe and other Farmers Union members who have donated to the scholarship fund. The Cooperative Scholarship is awarded on behalf of Ben and the late Dorothy Radcliffe and the families of the late Clifford Ott, Richard Pastian and Adam Seidel. The Leadership Scholarship is presented on behalf of the family of the late Frank Butler.

Farmers Union Foundation scholarships have been awarded annually since 1961. Recipients are selected on the basis of organizational and community involvement, academic achievement and financial need.
